Awards Awards Awards!!

Melbourne Fringe might not be entirely over, but the good news is already rolling in! I am so proud of Cheryl Ho and Rachel Lee (and a whole list of collaborators) on the amazing work they did and boy did it pay off!

落叶归根 (Luò yè guī gēn) Getting Home won 4 awards at Melbourne Fringe 2020

BEST IN THEATRE
BEST EMERGING WRITER
NEW ZEALAND TOUR READY AWARD
BEST EMERGING PRODUCER

I’m so chuffed to have been involved and to have witnessed this piece coming together.

And let’s not forget the other show I was involved in! A Disorganised Zoom Reading Of The Script Of Contagion was nominated in the Best Theatre category! A lovely surprise to us all. We raised $601 dollars that will be split evenly to go to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services. Amazing effort by all.

A Disorganised Zoom Reading of the Script from Contagion

I’ve been asked to take part in what will sure to be a hilariously good time. From the minds of Kat Cornwell and Morgan Rose, this verbatim reading of the shooting script of the movie Contagion will be a document for our times. For one night only, Tomorrow night, please join us on Zoom and witness the madness. (Allow me to point out a few things to focus on. John Marc Desengano has prepared up to 50 Zoom Backgrounds for the various settings his character, Kate Winslet, will be appearing in. Emily Tomlins as Jude Law, has likewise prepared a ridiculous amount of hats.)

落叶归根 (Luò yè guī gēn) Getting Home

I’ve been working with the brilliant Cheryl Ho on her fantastic new one woman show. Originally conceived fort he stage, she’s had to quickly pivot and reconceptualise the whole project for a digital offering for Melbourne Fringe. I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to see this. The great thing about a digital show is that we’re no longer limited by number of seats and geography!

Green Room Awards

I’ll be joining the Independent Theatre judging panel for the Green Room Awards this year. During this weird time when live theatre is trying to find its feet again it is so lovely to be amongst such esteemed peers. I’m looking forward to all the digital Fringe offerings, and more importantly, I can’t wait until we can all be back in the theatre, in the dark, connecting to art.
