Alice is so so proud to be cast in the upcoming production of Little Emperors. Written by Lachlan Philpott, directed by Wang Chong. This new work is an exploration into China’s one-child policy, a radical social experiment that was introduced after the Cultural revolution and officially ended in 2016. Bridging Beijing and Melbourne, this is the story of a family who secretly had two children under the policy, creating a fractured family who rally against political and social expectations. Wang Chong is one of China’s most ambitious stage directors, known for his integration of digital technology into theatre and his provocative politics, so it is a thrill to be collaborating with him next year.
